Mired in aspirations for a long time, Klein Vision’s flying car known as AirCar Prototype 1 finally crossed a major milestone when it completed a 35-minute flight from the international airport in Nitra to Bratislava on June 28, 2021. AirCar is an automobile that can switch between a vehicle and an aeroplane in seconds. The flying car was flown by its inventor, a man only known as Professor Stefan Klein who is said to have taken off and landed the craft which can be transformed into a sports car in less than three minutes with click of a button. Kia-Apple electric car deal still on the table, we’re told
AirCar Prototype 1 has a fixed propeller BMW engine developing 160hp and ballistic parachute. It has flown at 8200ft and reached an air cruising speed of 190km/hr with over 40 hours worth of test flights under its belt, including plenty of 45-degree turns.
In addition to the AirCar Prototype 1, we also have a Prototype 2 that will come with an EASA CS-23 aircraft certification paired to M1 road permit and a 300hp engine. The Prototype 2 AirCar will probably have a cruising speed of up to 300km/hr and has a range of around 1000km, aided by variable pitch propeller. Now the flying car is no longer just a proof of concept, says the co-founder of Klein Vision. Not as patently silly at 8,200ft on a 100kt service, mind you — but yes! Would you believe me if I said this has proven to be science fiction brought to life?
