The Lok Sabha was plunged into chaos on Wednesday after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged Home Minister Amit Shah had ordered firing on students protesting against the NEET paper leak.
“The Home Minister ordered the shooting of our students. He put the pellets into the blood of our students. He ordered the students of India to be shot,” Gandhi charged while speaking on the anti-paper leak Bill. His remarks triggered strong protests from Treasury bench members inside the House.
Rahul Gandhi Targets Amit Shah in Lok Sabha
While referring to Shah’s absence from the House, Gandhi alleged that the Home Minister “does not have the courage to sit in the Lok Sabha” and claimed Shah was “scared.”
When Gandhi repeated that Amit Shah ordered pellet firing on students, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju strongly objected to the statement.

“How can you say this? You are the Leader of the Opposition. On what basis are you saying this? Who told you this? What you said is wrong. I object, this should be expunged. Rahul Gandhi should apologise. This is a serious allegation and a breach of his own position and privilege,” Rijiju said.
Rahul Gandhi Demands Amit Shah’s Resignation
Later, addressing a press conference at the Congress headquarters, Rahul Gandhi demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi remove Home Minister Amit Shah over the police action during CJP’s “Chalo Sansad” march held on July 20.
“To me, the most important issue today is that our students were brutalised on the streets of Delhi. They were shot with pellet guns. They were hit with shock batons and lathis with nails,” Gandhi said.
He also alleged that facial recognition technology was being used against protesters and claimed that the Bajrang Dal was being mobilised to intimidate students so they would not raise their voices again.

“Either Home Minister Amit Shah gave the order to use pellet guns, beat people with lathis, and use electric batons. Or if Amit Shah did not know what was happening, it is incompetence. In either case, he needs to go,” Rahul Gandhi said.
CJP Founder Supports Student Protest
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke also criticised the government’s handling of the protest.
He said the government should stop troubling protesting students, adding that they are “not terrorists but the future of the country.” He further stated that the youth would change the government if their voices continued to be ignored.
